THRIFT ASSOCIATE Position Summary
The Thrift Shop Associate is responsible for the daily operations of the shop to include opening and closing of the shop, cash register operation, receiving & processing of donations, and merchandising the shop sales floor.
THRIFT ASSOCIATE Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prices, stocks, and merchandises display items for sale in the thrift shop.
- Opens, closes, and ensures thrift shop operates properly during regularly scheduled hours.
- Works closely with volunteers to ensure they can assist in the operations of the shop.
- Maintains accurate receipts of all sales and donations.
- Ensures that daily deposits are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Greets all customers with a friendly and polite demeanor when entering the store and thanks each customer when entering and leaving the shop.
- Assists the manager in onboarding new volunteers by instructing them on thrift shop operations, office procedures, and safety protocols.
- Assists the manager to ensure that the shop, offices and bathrooms are clean and safe Rotates on a regular schedule as assigned to ensure shop is clean.
- Cooperates and communicates with the CEO, CFO, Directors and Blue Ridge Care staff as appropriate.
- Meets as needed with the supervisor/and or manager to review the shop needs and assists with ordering inventory.
- Seeks opportunities for professional growth, including demonstrating the ability to receive constructive performance feedback. Seeks assistance of supervisor or other resource persons in responding to opportunities for improvement.
- Acts independently and responsibly to perform job duties on a consistent basis.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or deemed necessary.
- Carries out the mission and values of Blue Ridge Care.
- Must provide excellent customer service.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Computer literacy preferred/willingness to learn required.
