Blue Ridge Boost is hiring high school students to help lead our hands-on STEM camps in Charlottesville this summer. This is a great opportunity for responsible, enthusiastic teens who enjoy working with younger students and have interests in STEM, coding, robotics, games, or teaching.
Counselors will support two types of camps:
- Summer Camps for ages 6–12
- Advanced STEM Camps for ages 13 Advanced 11–12-year-olds may also participate
About Blue Ridge Boost
Blue Ridge Boost offers hands-on STEM learning in Charlottesville for students ages 6 . Our camps are week-long, engaging, and project-based, with all materials and computers provided.
Camp Topics
Counselors may assist with camps in:
- Robotics — build and program robots
- Coding & Game Design — Minecraft Education and Roblox Studio
- Math & Science — hands-on problem-solving
Advanced STEM Camps
- Advanced Robotics — complex builds and programming
- Coding & AI — Python, web development, and machine learning
- Game Development — Unity, Roblox Studio, and original projects

Camp Schedule
Counselors may support one or more of the following formats:
- Full-day: 8:30 AM–5:30 PM
- Half-day AM: 8:30 AM–1:00 PM
- Half-day PM: 12:30 PM–5:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Help supervise campers throughout the day
- Support instructors during STEM lessons, projects, and activities
- Assist with robotics, coding, AI, game design, math, science, and strategic game sessions
- Encourage camper participation, teamwork, and positive behavior
- Help with setup, cleanup, transitions, and organization of materials
- Assist during snack and lunch breaks
- Provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
- Serve as a positive role model for younger students
Ideal Candidates
- Current high school students
- Responsible, dependable, and punctual
- Enjoy working with children and teens
- Interested in STEM, robotics, coding, AI, gaming, math, or education
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Able to help maintain a structured, supportive camp environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience babysitting, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or working with kids
- Experience with robotics, Minecraft Education, Roblox Studio, Python, Unity, web development, AI, math enrichment, or strategic games
- Comfortable assisting with both beginner and more advanced learners
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus, but not required
