Line Cook Job Scope
Perform duties to produce menu items consistent with documented recipes, to maintain proper inventory levels, and to ensure a clean and safe work environment, working within the limits of standard or accepted practice. You are expected to be detail oriented, efficient, reliable, hard-working, consistent, and organized.
Line Cook General Responsibilities

- Comply with all food storage, handling, and rotation regulations and standards.
- Follow all safety protocols to avoid hazardous conditions and to prevent cross-contamination.
- Prepare food during off-peak periods.
- Cook meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items in compliance with established recipes and food safety regulations while ensuring consistency in product quality and portion size.
- Be able to properly coordinate the completion of items at the right time.
- Memorize and follow proper plate presentation standards for all dishes.
- Initiate replenishment of ingredients and supplies both at work stations and in the store room by following our Inventory Management Policy.
- Receive, inspect, and stock deliveries of food stuffs and restaurant supplies.
- Execute all side-job duties as assigned by management.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on kitchen equipment in compliance with established procedures.
- Follow kitchen closure checklist at the end of each shift.
- Demonstrate teamwork by supporting coworkers without regard to job titles or rank.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Line Cook Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience and Skills
- Two years of commercial kitchen experience (preferred)
- Wok experience (preferred)
- Positive interpersonal skills required
- Able to work at a fast pace, delivering consistent, high quality results
- Must speak and read English well enough to understand instructions and ask questions
Line Cook License/Certifications
- Florida Food Manager Certification is required before or within 90 days of hire
Line Cook ADA Information
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to speak, see, and hear
- Requires close and distance vision
- Walks and stands frequently
- Walks for long periods of time, possibly extended distances
- Frequently lifts/carries up to 20 pounds
- Occasionally lifts/carries up to 40 pounds
- Continually uses manual dexterity and gross motor skills
- Reaches hands and arms in any direction, keeling and stooping repeatedly
