About the Role
The Distribution Coordinator supports the Director, Processing Manager and Processing Team in a safe, efficient, and successful movement of all products and materials across fulfillment and distribution operations. This role is responsible for day-to-day execution of distribution tasks, logistics coordination, inventory management, packaging optimization initiatives, and clear communication across departments. The Distribution Coordinator ensures all operating tasks are completed in alignment with company policies, procedures, and leadership expectations. The Distribution Coordinator is professional, organized, confident, and self-motivated, with strong problem-solving and communication skills. They work to identify opportunities that improve workflow, logistics efficiency, and packaging performance.
What You'll Do
- Possess a functional understanding of and oversee all fulfillment and distribution operations at Blue Ocean Mariculture.
- Perform all technician-level operational tasks as needed; demonstrate high standards for safety, accuracy, and professionalism.
- Coordinate daily distribution activities including logistics planning, fulfillment sequencing, route coordination, special-order preparation, and timely outbound shipping.
- Assist in scheduling and prioritizing daily/weekly workload and task sequencing to maintain efficiency and optimize customer service provision.
- Support the team in achieving operational goals related to order timeliness, accuracy, cost control, and product quality.
- Serve as a primary point of communication for Hotels, Restaurants and other Institutions (HRI) operations, ensuring clear and timely cross-department updates and escalation of issues.
- Identify, recommend and assist with solutions to workflow inefficiencies, logistics bottlenecks, and production challenges.
- Monitor packaging and supply inventory levels for HRI and procure packaging, consumables, equipment, and distribution tools.
- Monitor KPIs and contribute to achieving performance targets through proactive logistics and workflow adjustments.
- Support accurate and timely data collection, documentation, and standardized report preparation.
- Plan and optimize distribution routes to reduce travel time, fuel use, and operational costs while ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure all products follow FIFO protocols and are handled according to food-safety, biosecurity, and cold-chain standards.
- Maintain full compliance with Company policies, safety protocols, and biosecurity procedures; model expected behaviors for the team.
- Assist in the training of team members in distribution workflows, FIFO inventory practices, safe driving and route procedures, POS systems, food handling, and customer service.
- Perform any duties assigned by the Director, Processing necessary to support department operations
What You'll Bring
- Two years of experience in food processing, distribution, warehouse operations, or related logistics roles
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to obtain forklift certification
- Ability to obtain HACCP certification
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and comfort working with digital systems and paperwork
- Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office and inventory/ERP systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours within a Monday–Friday schedule, occasional weekend work may be required
- Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs and work in hot, humid outdoor environments
