Position Summary:
The Clinical Manager for our Interventional Radiology partnership is responsible for the operational, clinical and clerical performance of the Interventional Radiology team. This individual will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care while acting as a liaison between physicians, nursing staff, schedulers, and patients. The manager plays a critical role in enhancing patient experience and optimizing workflows to ensure smooth daily operations within the IR team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of interventional radiology services, including clerical, procedural suites and pre/post-care areas
- Oversee scheduling of outpatient IR procedures & staff scheduling
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the EMR and scheduling software
- Oversee the processing of referrals and ensure all required documentation (labs, imaging, insurance authorization) is collected before the procedure
- Monitor patient scheduling, case flow, and daily IR caseload to ensure operational efficiency
- Collaborate with technologists, nurses, and physicians to optimize room utilization and staffing needs
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards
- Oversee incoming phone calls related to appointments, referrals, and general inquiries
- Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement
Patient Care & Experience
- Ensure seamless coordination of care across all phases of IR procedures
- Address patient concerns and implement initiatives to improve satisfaction scores
- Monitor patient flow and reduce delays or procedural cancellations
- Act as a liaison between referring providers, radiologists, patients, and families
- Help to resolve patient concerns, delays, or scheduling conflicts in a professional and compassionate manner
Budget & Resource Management
- Oversee inventory, supply ordering, and maintenance of IR equipment (through an online portal & paper)
- Collaborate with vendors and biomedical teams to ensure equipment uptime
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accrediting body regulations (e.g., TJC, CMS)
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to infection control standards
- Participate in safety drills, audits, and incident reporting processes
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, radiologic technology, or a related field preferred
- Current RN, or RT(R) license, if applicable
- OR Scrub Techs encouraged to apply!
Experience
- Minimum of 2–4 years of progressive management experience in radiology or procedural/OR services
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, acute care setting
- Strong knowledge of interventional radiology operations, compliance requirements, and clinical workflows
- Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations preferred
- Ability to multitask and manage a busy workload with accuracy
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to interpret data, develop action plans, and drive results
- Proficiency with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athena) and scheduling software
- Strong understanding of billing/coding in an outpatient radiology setting
- Ability to lead, organize, and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of interventional radiology procedures and terminology
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and critical thinking abilities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
