Job description
We are looking for a Research Associate to join our California team to work on viral vaccine programs. This position provides a great opportunity for learning and contributing to multiple aspects of vaccine development, particularly early-stage clinical trials, immunologic assay development, and clinical sample testing. The position requires a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player with strong communication skills. The candidate must be well-organized and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced regulated environment.

Education
- MSc or BSc degree in cellular or molecular biology or related field
- MSc degree with 0-2 years’ experience is preferred
- BSc degree with 2-5 years’ experience
- Industry experience preferred
Main activities
- Develop and qualify/validate virologic and immunologic assays (ELISA, cell-based immune assays) for clinical sample testing
- Measure vaccine specific serum and nasal antibodies in the clinical samples
- Process blood samples to isolate and preserve PBMC for cellular immune responses
- Propagate vaccine viruses in cell culture and quantitate by plaque assay
- Perform molecular assays such as RNA extraction, RT-PCR/RT-qPCR and sequence analysis
- Maintain tissue culture cell lines
Preferred Skills
- Mammalian cell culture including cell maintenance and propagation
- Immunological assays such as ELISA and immunofluorescent staining
- Molecular biology techniques such as RNA isolation, cDNA cloning, RT-PCR, and qPCR
- Excellent record keeping and organization
- Strong bioanalytic and data analysis skills
- Experience with virological skills is preferred
Salary Range
$70,000.00 - $95,000.00
