Blue Jay Bistro, located on Main Street in downtown Littleton, North Carolina, is an escape from the ordinary. We are looking for a professional and engaging Host/Hostess to join the Blue Jay Bistro team! The Host/Hostess are responsible for providing exceptional synchronized support to the servers, and the restaurant team to deliver the best dining experience to the guest.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

The Host/Hostess is responsible for accurately taking reservations, seating guests and maintaining accurate guest notes. Additionally, the host/hostess are responsible for keeping the reception area clean and tidy. When required, the host/hostess will also be assigned cleaning duties and running side work.
The Host/Hostess role is essential to maintain a positive and organized environment for the guest dining area. They ensure menus are clean, music is at the right level, and may take orders. The Host/Hostess also answers phone calls and works closely with management to arrange seating accordingly for groups and individuals. As the “face of the restaurant” always engages with a radiant smile and a welcoming attitude towards our guests.

The Ideal candidate will have experience in restaurant service. Has open availability on weekday and weekend afternoon/evenings. Enjoys supporting the management team in ensuring the service quality. Always maintains a professional attitude and enjoys making people feel at home.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Positive Professional demeanor, commitment, and willingness to serve.
  • Ability to work in a high pace / physically demanding environment, able to multitask and perform under pressure.
  • Ability to responsibly and accurately, process cash, credit card transactions, and manage computer POS systems.
  • Effective communication and active listening skills for conversing with guests and team members.
  • Ability to evaluate customer satisfaction and responsiveness.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods of time, and able to bend, stretch, and carry items that may weigh over 20 pounds.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Capable of following all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage.
