Reports To: Project Manager / Owner

Job Overview:

The Construction Superintendent will oversee the day-to-day operations of construction projects, primarily focusing on Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and private development projects. This role involves ensuring that construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the quality standards set forth by GDOT and project specifications. The Superintendent will lead onsite teams, coordinate subcontractors, and manage all aspects of project execution to ensure compliance with all project standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Oversight & Leadership:

Manage and supervise all field activities for sitework construction projects, including roads, bridges, highways, and infrastructure upgrades.

Direct and oversee subcontractors, foremen, laborers, and other construction personnel.

Ensure the project is progressing on schedule and within the established budget.

Maintain strict adherence to project plans, specifications, and Safety mandates.

2. Quality Control & Compliance:

Ensure that all construction work complies with specifications, standards, and quality control measures.

Conduct regular site inspections and quality assessments to ensure the highest standards of work.

To avoid project delays, address and resolve compliance, safety, or quality issues immediately.

3. Safety Management:

Enforce a safe work environment and ensure all OSHA regulations and company safety policies are followed.

Lead daily safety meetings and toolbox talks, with special attention to GDOT safety requirements.

Implement risk management strategies to minimize accidents and injuries onsite.

4. Schedule & Coordination:

Help develop project schedules and coordinate closely with the project manager to meet critical deadlines.

Coordinate material deliveries, inspections, staging, and manpower needs to prevent delays in project timelines.

Communicate regularly with the project manager, engineers, GDOT representatives, and other stakeholders to provide project updates.

5. Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of daily activities, subcontractor hours, material usage, and project delays.

Prepare and submit daily/weekly progress reports, including photos, inspection results, and compliance updates.

Ensure all GDOT-required paperwork and documentation are correctly completed and submitted promptly.

6. Stakeholder Management:

Act as the primary point of contact for private projects and GDOT inspectors, ensuring that all inspections and approvals are coordinated smoothly.

Communicate regularly with project managers, clients, and stakeholders regarding project status, changes, or concerns.

Qualifications:

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 8 years of experience as a Superintendent or in a similar role managing large GDOT and private sitework construction projects.

In-depth understanding of GDOT policies, procedures, and project requirements.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple teams and trades.

Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and project specifications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with all project stakeholders.

Solid understanding of construction safety regulations (OSHA) and GDOT safety protocols.

Familiarity with project management software and construction scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera).

Certifications:

GDOT Certified in Erosion & Sediment Control (Level 1A, 1B, and 2 certifications preferred).

OSHA 30-hour certification.

ACI (American Concrete Institute) certification is a plus.

Working Conditions:

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Flexibility to travel within Georgia.

Capable of working extended hours, including weekends, when necessary to meet project deadlines.

Compensation:

Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

The benefits package includes health, dental, vision, and paid time off.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
