Position Overview:As a Ski Instructor at Blue Hills Ski Area, you’ll be responsible for delivering safe, engaging, and effective ski lessons to guests of all skill levels. You’ll work closely with our team to create a positive learning environment, helping students build their skills, gain confidence, and enjoy their time on the mountain. Whether you’re teaching a group lesson or providing one-on-one coaching, your goal is to make skiing fun and accessible while ensuring guests have an outstanding experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Ski Lessons: Provide group and private ski lessons for individuals of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced skiers.
- Safety First: Ensure the safety of all students by adhering to ski area safety protocols, conducting proper equipment checks, and maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Customer Service: Foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere, providing excellent customer service to all guests.
- Progress Tracking: Assess students’ progress, offer constructive feedback, and adjust teaching methods to help them improve their skills.
- Lesson Planning: Prepare lesson plans based on student skill levels, goals, and abilities, ensuring a structured yet flexible approach to teaching.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other instructors and ski area staff to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain Equipment: Assist with the maintenance and care of ski equipment and gear as needed.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and certifications to keep skills current and maintain industry best practices.
- Promote Ski Area Programs: Inform guests about other services and programs offered at the ski area, including rentals, events, and seasonal packages.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous ski instructing experience is preferred, but not required. Training and certification can be provided for those who are passionate about teaching and have strong skiing skills.
- Skills:
- Strong skiing ability and knowledge of skiing techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people, including children, beginners, and advanced skiers.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to motivate others.
- Certifications:
- Certification from a recognized ski instructor organization (e.g., PSIA, CSIA) is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level instructors.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to ski for extended periods, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and lift/handle equipment as needed.
- Additional Skills: Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus. Experience working with children or groups is also beneficial.
