A daycare kitchen cook is responsible for preparing healthy, safe, and nutritious meals and snacks for children in a daycare or early learning center. This role helps support children’s growth and development by providing balanced meals while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook daily meals and snacks for children according to the daycare’s menu and nutrition guidelines
- Follow portion sizes appropriate for young children
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are followed at all times
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dishes, and food preparation areas
- Maintain an organized kitchen and properly store food items
- Monitor food inventory and inform staff when supplies need to be reordered
- Accommodate food allergies and special dietary needs of children
- Assist with planning nutritious weekly menus if needed
- Follow local health department regulations and daycare policies
Qualifications:
- Experience in cooking or food preparation preferred
