Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans tailored to meet the individual needs of students, incorporating curriculum development principles and educational technology integration.
- Provide direct instruction in literacy, math, communication skills, and other core subjects, utilizing evidence-based teaching strategies aligned with special education standards.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and behavioral therapy strategies to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress using standardized testing methods and maintain detailed records for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collaborate closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, and other professionals to coordinate student support services and instructional modifications.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians through parent-teacher conferences, progress reports, and digital communication platforms to foster strong partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws related to special education law, early intervention protocols, and disability rights while maintaining a nurturing classroom atmosphere.
Experience
- Proven classroom management experience within elementary or preschool settings, preferably in private or Montessori schools.
- Extensive background working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or behavioral health challenges.
- Demonstrated expertise in special education teaching methods such as curriculum adaptation, IEP development, speech therapy techniques, and behavior management for students with special needs.
- Experience integrating educational technology tools into lesson planning to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles, early childhood education practices, and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Prior experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support student success through mentoring and shared planning.
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures relevant to early childhood education assessments.
