Job Summary

The Beertender (Taproom Bartender) will be focused on crafting a beer-centric experience providing friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive service creating an exceptional experience for guests. This position will be responsible for describing, selling, and serving core and seasonal brews, alternative beverages, and any other product offerings carried within the Taproom.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17 per hour plus tips

Duties

• Welcome and greet all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness
• Provide excellent customer service to all guests, with the goal of engaging in conversations, creating regulars, and maximizing the customer experience
• Respond promptly and appropriately to all guest requests, concerns, and situations
• Maintain knowledge on Company’s Core Values, Mission and Purpose statement. Be a representative of Pure Project and our Ethos, telling guests about our sustainability efforts, non-profit partners, certifications, and how we source ingredients
• Educate all guests about the brews and alternative beverages available on the current draft menu. Educate guests about the history and culture of the brewery, the craft beer industry, and the differences between styles
• Maintain knowledge on education sheets and other pertinent information about core/seasonal brews, alternative beverages, and provide information to guests. Keep up with education on current offerings available
• Check the designated company communication platform(s) after clocking in for each shift. Review all active announcements, upcoming events, taproom promotions, and department/company updates responding to any direct messages in a timely and professional manner
• Complete daily checklists related to the shift (opening, closing, deep clean, private event, side work, etc) and standard operating procedures
• Meet performance expectations related to customer service and attention to detail standard acknowledged in onboarding and training(s)
• Prioritize guests, taking customer orders in a timely and prompt fashion. Follow all applicable laws, guidelines, and company policies on verifying identification and responsible alcohol serving
• Wash and sterilize glassware
• Assist in restocking of beer inventory and supplies ensuring consistent stocking of kegs, merchandise, and/or packaged products for sale to guests
• Follow all required sanitation and safe serving guidelines and regulations
• Maintain comfort and cleanliness throughout the bar and work area, including restrooms and public areas
• Promptly report all equipment and maintenance issues to management
• Operate POS system
• Complete cash handling and credit card transactions, and balance register at the end of each shift. Record customer gratuities as required by law
• Maintain the highest level of customer service and professionalism with guests, management, and co-workers. Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling and assist as needed with ensuring all shifts are appropriately staffed
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Prior work experience with bar/restaurant, brewery, winery, and/or bartender experience
• Must be able to work in the evening during the week, and day/night shifts on the weekend, as well as most Holidays
• Possess basic math skills and the ability to handle money
• Able to communicate effectively and be fluent in English
• Able to lift heavy objects (25 – 50 lbs.) on a continual basis. Able to transport up to 160 lbs. (full kegs) with assistance
• Able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for up to 8 hours per shift.
• Able to operate and/or quickly learn the Point of Sale system
• Able to maintain excellent customer service and a professional appearance suitable for guest interaction
• Possess or be able to obtain RBS Certification
• Possess working knowledge of beer and craft beer industry
• Be responsible and possess strong knowledge of ABC laws while enforcing them

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and safety
• Constant interaction with guests requiring a high level of customer service and professionalism
• Ability to stand, walk , lift, bend, and twist for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per shift)
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of items weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g. kegs, cases of beer, glassware racks, tables, chairs, etc). Ability to transport up to 160 pounds (full kegs) with assistance
