What are the responsibilities and job description for the BECI Associate Consultant position at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan?

Responsible for supporting the delivery of consultative services to executive leadership on a broad range of strategic, organizational, and operations effectiveness issues resulting in significant improvements, regulatory compliance, and positive financial outcomes to organizational processes.

  • Responsible for documenting, periodically or as-needed, transactional processes with boundaries, key steps, inputs, outputs, information technology systems, and other relevant information to facilitate process improvement discussions with executive leaders.
  • Responsible for monitoring and assessing emerging and existing technology developments (e.g., robotics, artificial intelligence, analytics, natural language processing, lean methods) to assess applicability across company for core business process, efficiency, capability, and performance improvements.
  • Responsible for analyzing processes to identify inefficiencies, capability gaps across people, process, technology, and management infrastructure.
  • Responsible for analyzing root causes of inefficiencies and gaps preventing ideal business delivery performance and assisting in identifying business requirements for process automation or system enhancements.
  • Responsible for developing meaningful insights from quantitative and qualitative analyses and summarize the ‘call to action’ for consideration by executive leadership through presentations that tell a story focused on insights, not just data, and communicate findings to executives and other leaders to drive action for business performance.
  • Responsible for defining process cost and key performance indicators, industry benchmarks and voice of customer data that lead to identification of continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Responsible for designing and developing dashboards that lead to actionable business insights for process and performance improvements for review with executive leaders.
  • Work with business teams and executives to develop plans to address opportunities, analyze projected improvements in cost and performance; facilitate, coordinate, and lead solution design activities.
  • Support Information Technology and business to implement effective and low-cost solutions; support business teams in development of business cases.
" Qualifications "
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Business, Computer Science or related field required.
  • One year of experience in business unit consulting with emphasis on business management, process improvement, automation, and strategic planning preferred.
  • Familiar with several continuous improvement tools, such as value stream mapping, process FMEA, and five whys.
  • Understand continuous improvement terminology, tools, and processes.
  • Proficient in defining problems, setting engagement objectives and scope.
  • Experience in financial acumen and systems thinking.
  • Ability to summarize quantitative and qualitative analyses and draw actionable insights.
  • Ability to deliver succinct and insightful presentations to executive leadership.
  • Knowledge of project management concepts, tools, and practices.
  • Workshop organization, planning, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, statistical analysis and related tools.
  • Knowledge of BCBSM products, processes, company structure, financial data structures, technology systems, organization, staff, performance targets, customer requirements, project funding and delivery, value management practices, and decision-making processes.
  • Knowledge of Business Efficiency and Continuous Improvement Unit tool set, 16-step methodology, and practices to gain support from business to implement solutions.
