Blue Cow is hiring a full-time Assistant General Manager (AGM) to support daily operations and co-lead the team at our Virginia Beach location. This position is designed for an emerging leader who is eager to learn the ins and outs of shop management, and build a career path toward future store leadership.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Hands-On Shift Leadership: Lead by example on the floor during peak service periods—including nights, weekends, and holidays—maintaining high energy, speed of service, and exceptional hospitality.
- Team Development & Coaching: Assist with recruitment, hiring, onboarding and training new team members (especially young or first-time workers), providing daily on-the-floor coaching, recognition and constructive feedback.
- Operational Support: Oversee daily store preparation, shift execution, cash handling procedures, cash reconciliation, and shop cleanliness.
- Food Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict food safety standards, cleanliness routines, employee safety practices, and compliance with Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) guidelines.
- Business Operations Learning: Work with leadership on labor scheduling, weekly inventory counts, waste tracking, and ordering, actively learning how to manage store-level P&L and cost controls.
- Guest Experience: Take ownership of shift-level guest satisfaction, resolving customer concerns warmly and maintaining a fun, inviting shop culture for guests and team members.
- Shop Maintenance: Help ensure equipment, fixtures, and store presentation meet Blue Cow standards, reporting repair or maintenance needs promptly.
- Marketing & Culture: Assist with local marketing initiatives, community engagement, and championing Blue Cow’s core values.

- Serving as a reliable right-hand leader to the General Manager and a supportive coach to team members building strong relationships with staff and mentoring shift leaders.

Requirements
- 1–2 years of supervisory or shift leadership experience in retail, restaurant, or high-volume food service (experience managing seasonal traffic is a plus).
- A strong growth mindset and willingness to learn store management, financial metrics, and inventory control.
- Passion for hospitality, community, and working with early-career team members.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, support, and retain team members.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive scooping motions, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

- Position Type: Full-time (35–40 hours/week, requiring flexibility for evenings, weekends, and peak holiday shifts).
