Senior Estimator

Blue Cord Design & Construction
Orlando, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 10/20/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/17/2027

Primary Function

The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive construction estimates throughout the full project lifecycle, from early conceptual and block drawings through schematic design (SD), design development (DD), and 100% construction documents (CDs).

This position requires an experienced estimator who is equally comfortable developing early-stage budgets from limited information and preparing detailed estimates from complete construction documents. The Senior Estimator must be able to evaluate project scope, develop pricing strategies, identify risks and opportunities, and clearly communicate estimate assumptions, qualifications, and exclusions.

This position also represents an opportunity for future leadership within the estimating department. The successful candidate should have the experience, organizational discipline, and leadership capability to eventually coordinate and lead an estimating team as the department grows.

This is a fully in-office position located in Orlando, Florida. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Prepare construction estimates from conceptual/block drawings, schematic design (SD), design development (DD), and 100% construction documents (CDs).

· Develop conceptual budgets and preliminary pricing when complete project information is not yet available.

· Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, pricing, and estimate development.

· Review drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to identify scope requirements, risks, opportunities, and potential gaps.

· Develop and document estimate assumptions, qualifications, exclusions, and clarifications.

· Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing for scope completeness and alignment with project requirements.

· Participate in client and project coordination meetings.

· Present estimate findings and clearly explain pricing, assumptions, qualifications, and exclusions to clients and internal stakeholders.

· Manage multiple estimates and competing deadlines within a fast-moving calendar.

· Re-prioritize estimating activities as dates, project requirements, and organizational priorities change.

· Coordinate with operations and project personnel regarding constructability, scheduling, scope, and pricing considerations.

· Maintain accurate and organized estimating files, documentation, pricing information, and supporting records.

· Support the development and maintenance of historical cost information, unit pricing, and estimating resources.

· Assist with establishing and maintaining productive relationships with subcontractors and vendors.

· As the department grows, assign and coordinate estimating responsibilities among other estimators.

· Review estimating work for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and alignment with company expectations.

· Mentor and support other estimators while helping establish consistent estimating practices and procedures.

· Support the continued growth and development of the company’s estimating department.

Experience / Education

· Minimum of 8 years of construction estimating experience, including experience operating at a senior level.

· Demonstrated experience preparing estimates throughout the full document range, including conceptual/block drawings, SD, DD, and 100% CDs.

· Experience developing conceptual budgets from limited project information is required.

· Experience with commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, government/federal, retail, hospitality, or comparable non-residential construction projects.

· Candidates whose estimating experience is primarily residential or multifamily are not a fit for this position.

· Candidates must have experience beyond quantity takeoff and demonstrate responsibility for pricing, estimating strategy, scope evaluation, and estimate development.

· Prior experience supervising or leading estimators, or serving as a Lead Estimator or Chief Estimator, is preferred.

· Experience developing and maintaining historical cost databases and unit pricing is preferred.

· Established subcontractor and vendor relationships within the Central Florida market are preferred.

· No specific degree or professional certification is required. Candidates will be evaluated primarily on relevant project history, estimating experience, demonstrated capability, and the quality and complexity of work previously estimated.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles, practices, processes, and documentation.

· Ability to develop accurate estimates from limited conceptual information as well as complete construction documents, especially within municipalities and cities where requirements are fluid and constantly changing.

· Strong understanding of conceptual, SD, DD, and CD-level estimating.

· Proficiency with Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.

· Strong analytical, value engineering, and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
