Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Assist the dentist during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and ensuring patient comfort
- Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Dentrix Ascend
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits and handle insurance claims processing and follow-up
- Perform medical billing and coding using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes to ensure accurate documentation for procedures and diagnoses
- Maintain medical records, review documentation for accuracy, and ensure proper filing of dental charts and administrative files
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, schedule appointments efficiently, and provide excellent customer service at the front desk
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental office or clinic setting with strong knowledge of dental terminology and office procedures
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Athenahealth; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential
- Knowledge of medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), insurance verification processes, and medical billing practices
- Ability to review medical documentation accurately and manage health information securely in compliance with HIPAA standards
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
- Strong organizational skills with experience in medical administrative support including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and scheduling
- Demonstrated ability to handle front desk duties efficiently while maintaining professionalism under pressure
- Clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred; hospital or healthcare environment experience is advantageous
- Must possess computer skills relevant to electronic health records management and office administration
