What are the responsibilities and job description for the LMS Manager - Remote position at Blue Cliff College?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Learning Management System Support Services:
- Assists in the maintenance of e-learning content, creates user tests, uploads all relevant training material in learning management systems, and extracts relevant reports to track the progress of learning content including delivery of selected courses.
- Performs general program support in a proactive manner to ensure successful learning events, including acting as a point of contact for project related LMS questions for any stakeholders.
- Identifies and communicates opportunities for content quality improvements, providing feedback on usage, defects, and suggested enhancements.
- Publishes and archives online or blended learning solutions, assigns training curricula and adds and deletes resources.
- Works with Director of Education and Program Chair(s) to manage the course asset library, classroom functionality & design, meets with vendors for ongoing functionality of various classroom platforms, and provides support and guidance for other areas within the LMS as needed.
- Under the direction of the Director of Education, populates course information and assigns learners.
- Develops and updates standardized tools and reporting for ongoing access to learning information; generates standard and custom reports if needed.
- Builds online assessments and evaluations in LMS for courses.
- Onboarding Specialist: Increases start volume, show rates, and first term student retention with applicable activities.
- Academic Support Services: Fosters the development of self-direction, motivation and responsible decision-making of the students/staff and encourages the successful completion of degree requirements and timely graduation.
- Daily high level of problem solving for students, staff, and online training/learning equipment.
- Prepares reports and analyzes LMS data, including usage reports, survey data, and assessments and provide data to Director of Education and Director of Online Operations for evaluation
- Solicits feedback from staff and Instructors to improve customer service.
- Trains faculty and staff on how to use the LMS system to support registration and course set up as needed
- Ensures quality assurance functionality of courses and serves as a point of contact within the Hybrid Learning and Canvas Platforms to assist faculty, staff and students with technical issues.
- Respond to outlook email trouble shooting enquires from staff and students
- Respond to Canvas email trouble shooting enquires from staff and students
- Class building & troubleshooting for new terms
- New instructor training, new student training, staff training on new technologies
- Create new students Microsoft Office accounts, new student Canvas accounts, and new student LRC login credentials
- Provide one-on-one training services to various students on a daily basis
- Maintain logs of all LRC requests for ACCSC documentation
- Update course assignments, quizzes, and other learning elements as needed
- Place new students into Orientation and their first classes of their programs
- Maintain, distribute, and utilize hybrid grids for new hybrid student placement to online LMS
- Follow up on requests to drop or deactivate current students as needed.
- Host and lead multiple presentations for new students during Orientation
- Work on ongoing special projects (current projects include: upgrading LMS features, creating more LRC assignments, suspending all non-active current students for managing LMS level of use parameters, removing redundant and non-essential accounts from LMS)
- Attend and provide support for online team meetings
- Proctor Wonderlic & SmarterMeasure assessments for admissions department
- Serve as Creative/knowledge hub for other campus special projects
- Evaluate analyzes, tests, and implements emerging technologies for LMS, instructor training, LRC, academics, etc.
- Serve as curriculum designer/advisor for individual classes
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a LMS administrator; knowledge of Canvas a plus.
- Technical skills including troubleshooting, and understanding of directory, file structures, and systems.
- The ability to do course design and development.
- The ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- The ability to collaborate with others at all levels of the organization as well as vendors.
- Customer service skills and a responsive attitude.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex technical concepts in layman's terms.
