About the Opportunity
Blue Bridge People is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer IV to lead the design, deployment, and improvement of enterprise-level SCADA systems within industrial automation and material handling environments.
This is a senior-level, hands-on engineering role that will serve as the technical lead for SCADA architecture, platform configuration, system integration, and commissioning. This person will also establish engineering standards and mentor junior engineers.
What You’ll Do
- Design scalable, high-availability SCADA system architectures.
- Develop and deploy solutions using Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware, FactoryTalk View SE, and WinCC.
- Establish standards for tags, alarms, visualization, security, documentation, and version control.
- Integrate SCADA platforms with PLCs, MES, historians, databases, and other enterprise systems.
- Configure historian data, user access, alarms, reporting, and system connectivity.
- Lead FAT, SAT, startup, and commissioning efforts across multiple sites.
- Work with Controls, Software, Electrical, and IT teams on system integration and security.
- Partner with customers to define system requirements, user roles, dashboards, and reporting needs.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead internal SCADA training and onboarding.
- Evaluate new technologies, including MQTT, edge computing, cloud visualization, and remote diagnostics.
- Support dashboards, KPIs, centralized monitoring, and other digital initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- At least seven years of SCADA experience within industrial automation, material handling, or a similar environment.
- Strong experience with SCADA architecture, PLC integration, industrial networking, and commissioning.
- Expertise in at least two of the following platforms:
- Ignition
- AVEVA/Wonderware System Platform
- FactoryTalk View SE
- Siemens WinCC
- Experience with Python scripting, SQL, OPC UA, historian systems, and tag database structures.
- Strong communication, documentation, and technical leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 35%.
Preferred Experience
- Material handling, warehouse automation, conveyor, sortation, or distribution center experience.
- Experience designing redundant or high-availability SCADA environments.
- Familiarity with MQTT, edge gateways, cloud-based visualization, and industrial cybersecurity.
- Previous experience mentoring engineers or leading SCADA architecture and standards.
Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
