Our client is seeking an Applications Engineer to join their team for pre-sale and project execution work in the chemical and paper processing industry.
This role provides engineering support related to quotation development, pre- and post-sales activities, process audits, and system optimization initiatives, while supporting the organization’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and ethical business practices.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Travels as needed to support sales presentations, system audits, mill surveys, system start-ups, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Serves as the Applications Lead for capital equipment projects.
- Responds to systems technology inquiries from Sales & Marketing teams as well as customer technical requests.
- Reviews customer technical requirements and specifications, performs feasibility evaluations, and translates project scope into project costing and customer proposals.
- Develops process flow sheets that include material balances and equipment identification details.
- Selects appropriate equipment using technical documentation and practical experience to support the process functions identified on flow sheets. Consults with other engineering resources when equipment selection is complex or outside standard applications.
- Independently prepares capital equipment quotations.
- Maintains Applications Engineering drawings, project documentation, reference drawing files, and application manuals.
- Prepares project handoff documentation for the order execution team upon receipt of customer orders.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives related to products, processes, and operational effectiveness.
- Serves as a technical point of contact for assigned core products.
- Maintains a working knowledge of a broad range of stock-preparation foundation products.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university required. Familiarity with paper industry equipment, systems technology, and process controls is preferred. A minimum of 2–3 years of process engineering experience is required.
Travel Requirements
Ability to travel frequently as needed, approximately 40–50%.
Compensation: $95k-120k DOE
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
