ABOUT THE ROLE: The Director of Marketing leads the strategy and deployment of marketing across all channels, connecting brand storytelling with customer growth-from advertising and CRM to social media, PR, and physical media. Reporting to the Chief Creative Officer, this role shapes clear, culturally aware communications that bring the Blu Dot brand to life for customers.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on: able to set direction while ensuring campaigns, communications, and budgets perform. You'll bring a sharp read on the broader cultural landscape and an understanding of the specific marketing dynamics of the furniture and design industry.
Working closely with creative, retail, and e-commerce teams, you'll build cohesive marketing that grows the business and strengthens the brand. Collaboration, curiosity, and a sense of fun are essential.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Marketing Strategy & Leadership
•Develop and lead the overall marketing strategy across digital, retail, and brand channels
•Translate company goals into clear marketing plans, briefs, budgets, and performance targets
•Manage and mentor a cross-channel marketing team and external partners
•Collaborate closely with brand creative, merchandising, retail, trade & contract, and Ecommerce leadership
Paid Media & Growth
•Oversee media strategy and advertising spend across digital and traditional channels
•Plan and optimize campaigns across platforms including paid social, search, display, and other paid media
•Monitor performance and adjust budgets to drive efficient customer acquisition and growth
•Partner with agencies and internal teams to improve campaign effectiveness and ROI
Email & CRM
•Lead lifecycle marketing strategy including email, CRM, and customer segmentation
•Develop programs that drive acquisition, retention, and repeat purchase
•Optimize automated flows and campaigns to improve engagement and conversion
•Use data and insights to refine messaging and customer journeys
Direct Mail
•Develop and manage direct mail programs including catalogs, postcards, and targeted campaigns
•Partner with creative and merchandising teams to align messaging with seasonal launches and promotions
•Use segmentation and performance data to optimize targeting and effectiveness
Social Media
•Oversee social strategy and channel growth across owned platforms
•Guide planning, campaign integration, and community engagement
•Ensure social channels reflect the voice and aesthetic of the brand
PR & Brand Communications
•Direct PR strategy including media relations, press outreach, and brand partnerships
•Work with agencies and internal teams to secure meaningful press coverage
•Support product launches, collaborations, and brand storytelling initiatives
Analytics & Performance
•Track marketing performance across channels and regularly report on results
•Use data to guide decision-making, test new approaches, and improve outcomes
•Align marketing KPIs with overall business goals
Team Leadership & Development
•Lead and develop a high-performing, cross-functional marketing team
•Define team structure and hire top talent to support growth
•Manage and direct work across agencies and external partners
•Set clear goals, provide coaching, and manage performance
•Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and values-driven team culture
•Partner cross-functionally to ensure alignment and effective execution to drive measurable results for multiple customer segments
•Identify and address capability gaps across talent, tools, and processes
IDEAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS*:
•8–12 years of marketing experience, ideally within retail, consumer, or design-led brands
•Proven experience managing paid media, CRM/email, direct mail, social, PR, and out-of-home campaigns including platforms similar to Klayvio, Attentive, Shopify, Meta, etc.
•Strong understanding of digital marketing performance metrics and analytics including platforms similar to GA4, Measured or other incrementality tools
•Experience managing marketing budgets and agencies
•Ability to balance brand storytelling with performance-driven marketing
•Strong collaborator with excellent communication and leadership skills
•Passion for design, culture, and thoughtful brand building
•Position is based out of Minneapolis, MN headquarters with a flexible working environment/schedule (no full-time remote work available)

Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
