Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Driver Assistant to support transportation services within our skilled nursing facility. This role ensures residents are safely escorted and assisted to and from appointments and external destinations while providing excellent care and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the driver with transporting residents to medical appointments, outings, and facility-related trips
Safely help residents in and out of vehicles, including those using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids
Ensure residents are properly secured during transport (seatbelts, wheelchair restraints, etc.)
Provide friendly, respectful interaction and emotional support to residents during transport
Accompany residents into appointments when required and ensure proper hand-off to staff or caregivers
Maintain cleanliness and organization of transport vehicles
Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures
Assist with scheduling coordination and documentation as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals strongly preferred
Ability to lift, push, and assist residents safely
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Compassionate, patient, and reliable demeanor
Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
Basic knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
Preferred Skills
Experience in healthcare, transportation, or caregiving roles
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Must have a valid license
