Are you ready to take the next step in your Librarian career? Bloomsburg Public Library seeks an innovative, community-oriented leader for the position of library director to help grow and move the library towards the future.
The Library Director will manage and supervise all day-to-day operations of the library, grant writing, donor cultivation, and the development and implementation of library programs and services. With Board input, the Library Director will support and implement the library’s mission, goals, and strategic plan and administer a budget of $350,000. The ideal candidate will foster a collaborative environment with the two full time and eight part-time employees to expand library services while ensuring an open and inviting library experience to all members of our community.

Bloomsburg, located in Columbia County, is a small, historic town of just over 12,000 residents, with a thriving state university (Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg), a number of manufacturing businesses (Autoneum, Kawneer, Kydex) and a well-regarded hospital system (Geisinger). Bloomsburg benefits from forward thinking and energetic leadership, acting recently to add a dog park, renovate the town swimming pool, install bike lane access to the town park, and develop a riverside walking and biking trail that is nearing completion. It has much to offer culturally and recreationally with the professional theatre productions of Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble, the Arts in Bloom series of the University and its proximity to the Susquehanna River and the Ricketts Glen and World’s End state parks. Bloomsburg is also located in close proximity to New York City and Philadelphia. The library is located in the midst of the vibrant downtown community of small businesses from shops to galleries to eateries and is within walking distance of many of the schools in the Bloomsburg School district.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Library Science, or Library and Information Science from a graduate library program accredited by the American Library Association.
- Two or more years of experience in administration and management of staff.
- Experience with development, donor relations, and grant writing preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with public officials, organizations, and members of the community
Salary and Benefits
· $43,000 - $52,000 (commensurate with qualifications and experience),
