Product Development Engineer
Location: Naperville, IL

Summary
This is a confidential direct-hire opportunity with an established manufacturing company in Naperville, Illinois.
Our manufacturing client is seeking a Product Development Engineer to support new product development, product validation, testing, supplier quality, and compliance.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain product testing and validation procedures.
Coordinate agency, safety, compliance, and performance testing.
Review and manage agency reports, certifications, and testing documentation.
Work with suppliers, including international manufacturers, on FAI, tooling, samples, and quality issues.
Support new product development and introduction from prototype through production.
Create and maintain DFMEAs, quality tracking documents, test plans, and specifications.
Test prototypes and production samples and troubleshoot issues.
Manage product changes and coordinate required validation or certification updates.
Research new technologies, materials, manufacturing processes, and suppliers.
Work with accredited laboratories and outside engineering firms.
Support root-cause analysis, supplier audits, and continuous improvement.
Create product manuals, specifications, labels, and other technical documentation.
Work with Marketing and Sales to ensure product information and specifications are accurate.
Maintain the laboratory, test equipment, tools, and product samples.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
Experience with NPD/NPI and product validation.
Experience creating testing procedures and working with testing agencies or laboratories.
Experience reviewing agency reports and product certifications.
Experience working with international suppliers
Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) and off-tool parts is strongly preferred.
Comfortable working with electrical components; induction experience is a plus.
Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, PCB layouts, and assembly documentation.
Hands-on experience with laboratory/test equipment.
Experience with DFMEAs, quality documentation, or risk assessment is preferred.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and/or Visio preferred.
Willingness to travel approximately 10–25% as needed.
