Job Overview
We are seeking a precise and reliable Field Technician to support our design teams across 180 Design and Build and Bloom Fine Gardening. This role focuses on field measurement and the creation of accurate landscape and interior base maps that support our design and renovation projects. You will measure exterior sites and house interiors, collect accurate field data, and translate that information into clean base drawings for our staff.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys independent work, is confident in both fieldwork and CAD, and values accuracy and organization. Work is assigned on an as-needed basis depending on project load.
Duties
- Conduct site visits for residential and commercial projects
- Measure landscapes and house interiors using laser measurers and hand tools
- Triangulate features in the field to ensure accuracy
- Create landscape and architectural base maps in AutoCAD
- Build base plans from scratch or refine existing surveys when required
- Set up drawing files so they are ready for design staff to continue the work
- Document field notes and upload all digital materials to shared folders
- Communicate with design staff to confirm measurement scope and any field complexities
Requirements
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience measuring landscapes and interiors
- Ability to triangulate and establish accurate dimensions independently
- Familiarity with basic surveying concepts
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfort working outdoors in varying conditions
- Valid driver license and reliable transportation
- Professional communication and organized workflow
Preferred Skills
- Experience in architecture, landscape architecture, or related design work
- Familiarity with survey drawings and site analysis
- Comfort with Google Drive
- Experience with plants, materials, or landscape construction is helpful but not required
Compensation
- $25 to $35 per hour based on experience
- Travel time paid at 0.5 rate
- IRS mileage reimbursement
- Measuring equipment can be provided if needed
