Duties
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of students’ physical capabilities and develop tailored care plans to address their unique needs
- Implement evidence-based treatment strategies such as physiotherapy techniques, trigger point therapy, and mobility exercises to promote functional independence
- Collaborate with teachers, school nurses, parents, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care and ensure seamless integration of therapy services within the school setting
- Manage clinical documentation standards by accurately recording patient care activities, progress notes, and treatment outcomes using electronic health records (EHR) systems or EMR systems
- Assist in discharge planning by evaluating student progress and recommending ongoing therapies or home & community care strategies as needed
- Support students with diverse needs including pediatrics, neurology, orthopedics, and geriatrics to maximize their participation in classroom activities
- Educate staff and caregivers on proper handling techniques, adaptive equipment use, and exercises to reinforce therapy goals outside of sessions
Experience
- Prior experience practicing in a physical therapy role within outpatient clinics, inpatient hospitals, or home health environments is highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and patient rehabilitation techniques specific to pediatric and geriatric populations
- Hands-on experience working with acute care settings or outpatient rehabilitation centers enhances your ability to adapt therapy approaches effectively
- Familiarity with outpatient experience or outpatient clinic experience is preferred for understanding diverse patient needs in a school context
- Proven ability to develop treatment plans aligned with clinical documentation standards while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience working with EMR systems or electronic health records management tools ensures accurate recordkeeping and compliance with healthcare regulations
