Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) located in Washington, DC. The WHNP/FNP will be responsible for providing comprehensive health care services, including routine prenatal and gynecological care, family planning, and management of obstetric and gynecological conditions. The practitioner will also conduct physical examinations, diagnose and treat health issues, and educate patients on health management and preventive care. Collaboration with other healthcare providers and maintaining accurate patient records are also key aspects of this role.
Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner skills, including advanced practice nursing and patient care, with ideally 3-5 years experience
- Family Planning and Obstetrics knowledge
- Proficiency in Nursing and Medicine, with a focus on women's health
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Master's degree in Nursing or a related field is required
- Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in Washington, DC preferred
- Experience in an OB/GYN setting is highly desirable
Core Responsibilities:
- Well-woman exams:
- Conducting routine checkups, including Pap tests and breast cancer screenings.
- Reproductive health:
- Providing contraception counseling, managing menstrual disorders, and addressing infertility concerns.
- Gynecological care:
- Diagnosing and treating STIs, and providing care for other gynecological conditions. Experience with office based procedures preferred, but not required. These might include IUD insertion, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy and Nexplanon insertion.
- Prenatal and postpartum care:
- Providing care for pregnant women, from initial prenatal visits through postpartum care, and working with team members to ensure optimal outcomes.
- General health management:
- Addressing general health issues, including chronic diseases like diabetes, and providing health education.
- Adolescent health:
- Providing care to young women and teenagers.
