Summary
Block Institute's Article 16 Clinic currently provides a variety of services to people with developmental disabilities. These services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychiatry, psychotherapy, and speech therapy. We are looking to add a New York State licensed Speech Language Pathologist to our team. As a member of the Article 16 Clinic team, the full time Speech Therapist provides direct clinical services, including assessments and individual speech sessions to people diagnosed with developmental disabilities.
General Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Prepare engaging exercises and activities to use during speech sessions with patients.
- Create goals and objectives for patients to work toward and identify areas of progress and challenges.
- Manage a reasonable caseload in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Provide care in a friendly and culturally sensitive manner.
- Document care as prescribed by law and in accordance with best practices.
- Use an electronic health record to track appointments, document sessions, and create treatment plans.
- Coordinate with administrative staff and collaborate with clinic interdisciplinary team.
Position Information
- The Clinic, located in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, shares a building with the Adult Day Service department which provides daytime activities and training to adults with disabilities.
- The clinician schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm with a 30-minute lunch.
- The caseload expectation is very reasonable; no more than 6-10 sessions per day, with time provided for documentation. Session times can vary based on patient need, but typically sessions are 30 minutes.
- Work in conjunction with the administrative assistant who handles appointment scheduling with patients, their families, or care team.
- Salary range (commensurate with experience): $63,000 - $75,000
