Job Description Statement:

The Biomedical Engineer Technician II plays an expanded role in delivering safe, reliable imaging services by independently performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and intermediate repairs on biomedical equipment onsite at our Los Angeles, CA customer site. Building on a strong technical foundation, this role partners closely with clinicians, service teams, and senior engineers to resolve issues efficiently and minimize equipment downtime. Through growing expertise, sound judgment, and a commitment to quality, the BMET II strengthens patient safety and technology reliability. This position represents a key professional milestone, blending technical confidence with meaningful impact in local healthcare environments.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Take ownership of customer issues by identifying problems, communicating clearly, involving the right service personnel, and ensuring customer satisfaction while building credibility and trust.
  • Proactively identify service needs, provide solutions beyond break/fix, and demonstrate urgency and priority-setting in difficult customer situations with minimal supervision.
  • Represent the company professionally, respond appropriately to inquiries, and maintain a positive, cohesive company image across all interactions.
  • Support team success by adopting and sharing best practices, assisting others, mentoring peers, and seeking opportunities to increase skill and capacity.
  • Maintain full compliance with regulatory standards, safety requirements, customer policies, and company procedures while effectively managing labor, parts, tools, documentation, and administrative tasks.
  • Build growing technical expertise across biomedical equipment—performing PMs, repairs, troubleshooting, and escalating issues properly with effective hand-offs.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving, clear communication, and consistent follow-through to meet business objectives and contribute to a high-performing service environment.
  • Driving and vehicle operation are essential functions of this role.

Requirements

Role Competencies:

  • Identify and define technical problems by collecting data, applying training, and collaborating with others, while building troubleshooting capability down to the component level.
  • Demonstrate foundational PC competency (word processing, spreadsheets, databases) alongside experience with mechanical tools, test equipment, and electronic circuit boards/processors.
  • Understand fundamental networking technologies and basic troubleshooting methods.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally—both verbally and in writing—with team members and customers at all levels.
  • Work effectively in a team-driven environment, sharing knowledge and collaborating across departments to achieve common goals.
  • Remain adaptable, organized, self-disciplined, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record compliant with Block Imaging’s Driver Policy.


Experience and Education Requirements:

Preferred Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance, field service, or technical service within a healthcare or imaging environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and intermediate repairs on biomedical and imaging equipment.
  • Experience supporting equipment in clinical settings, working directly with clinicians, service teams, and hospital staff.
  • Proven ability to manage work assignments within an assigned geographic territory, including scheduling, documentation, and customer communication.
  • Experience applying service documentation, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and equipment reliability.

Education (or equivalent experience)

  • Associate degree or equivalent training/experience in electronics or Biomedical Engineering.

Preferred Certifications

  • CBET certification desirable, lean certification desirable.

Travel Requirements:

This role requires frequent travel to assigned healthcare facilities and flexibility of schedule.

This role may involve

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout various work environments for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching to access and service equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds; heavier lifting may require assistance or mechanical aids.
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools, small components, and electronic parts.
  • Visual acuity and color perception sufficient to read schematics, calibrate equipment, and identify wiring or indicators.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with healthcare and related facility staff, as well as document service activities accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in any situation where it is necessary.
  • Compliance with hospital health and safety requirements. Ability to safely operate and enter/exit vehicles, drive for extended periods and work in varied environmental conditions with potential exposure to machinery, noise, and hazardous materials.

The base pay range for this position is:

  • Min $70,000 - Max $85,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Block Imaging offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.
