What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Project Manager Construction position at Block Construction Services?
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing multifamily construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. The APM plays a key role in day-to-day project administration, cost tracking, scheduling, communication with the general contractor, coordination with the architect/engineer team, as well as overall coordination with the ownership/operations team to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Support & Coordination
- Assist the Project Manager with daily management of multifamily construction projects
- Coordinate the architect, engineers, consultants, etc.
- Participate in project kickoff, OAC, and weekly coordination meetings
- Maintain project documentation including contracts, drawings, and correspondence
Cost Control & Procurement
- Assist with budget tracking, cost reports, and forecasting
- Review general contractor pay applications and verify work in place
- Track material procurement and long-lead items
Scheduling & Progress Tracking
- Assist in maintaining project schedules and look-ahead schedules
- Monitor field progress and identify potential delays
Quality & Safety
- Support quality control processes to ensure work meets plans and specifications
- Participate in site walks, inspections, and punch list activities
RFIs, Submittals & Documentation
- Monitor and assist with responding to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings
- Coordinate with architects and engineers to obtain timely responses
- Maintain accurate project records
Permits & Inspections
- Track inspection status and required approvals
Project Closeout
- Assist with punch list completion and project turnover
- Collect warranties, O&M manuals, and as-built documentation
- Support certificate of occupancy and final closeout activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- 1–5 years of experience in construction, preferably multifamily
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Basic understanding of construction scheduling and cost control
- Proficiency with project management software (Procore preferred), Microsoft Office, Autodesk

Salary : $60,000 - $80,000
