Key Responsibilities
Structural Design & Engineering
- Provide advanced structural engineering services for heavy industrial and power plant projects
- Prepare detailed structural designs, calculations, and technical documentation
- Develop and review structural steel and concrete designs, including connection details
- Produce and verify engineering drawings and supporting design documentation
- Ensure all engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
Field Support & Site Engineering
- Conduct site walkdowns and field assessments at active construction and industrial sites
- Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning activities
- Perform structural inspections and prepare detailed written engineering reports
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of field-related engineering issues
Project Planning & Coordination
- Provide input on project schedules, staffing needs, and resource planning
- Develop cost estimates and material takeoffs for structural scopes of work
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, construction, and operations
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with competing priorities
Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Review and check structural calculations, drawings, and engineering deliverables
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC standards and engineering best practices
- Provide technical guidance to engineering teams and junior staff
- Support continuous improvement of design processes and deliverable quality
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with structural codes, industry standards, and OSHA regulations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of engineering regulations and safety requirements
- Ensure designs meet regulatory, client, and project-specific requirements
Problem Solving & Decision Making
- Apply advanced engineering judgment to solve complex structural challenges
- Evaluate design alternatives and recommend optimal solutions
- Make independent technical decisions with minimal supervision
Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration
- Collaborate effectively with plant personnel, design engineers, and vendors
- Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Build strong working relationships across engineering and construction teams
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required)
- Master’s degree in Engineering (preferred) OR equivalent experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or strongly preferred
- 20 years of experience in heavy industrial or power plant structural engineering

- Extensive knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles
- Strong experience in structural steel connection design
