We are a growing manufacturing company based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, dedicated to innovation, quality, and operational excellence. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a skilled Cost Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in driving financial insight, cost control, and profitability. This is a newly created position within our business.
Position Overview
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, preparing cost reports, and providing accurate and timely information to support business decisions. This role will partner closely with operations, supply chain, and finance to improve cost transparency, efficiency, and margins.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and analyze cost accounting systems, standard costs, and inventory valuations.
- Prepare monthly cost and variance analysis reports (material, labor, and overhead).
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Partner with operations to monitor production costs, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
- Track and report on inventory movements, cycle counts, and variances.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, providing cost-related insights.
- Perform margin analysis by product line, customer, and business unit.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal financial policies.
- Provide financial support for capital investment analysis and new product introductions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA a plus).
- 5 years of cost accounting experience.
- 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and preferable experience in Microsoft D365. Experience in analytical tools such as Microsoft BI would be desirable.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
