Archeological Technician (Temporary Seasonal)

We expect to fill 1 vacancy at this time at one of the above locations (not both); however, additional positions may be filled from this announcement if they become available.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications for the 0102 Archeological Technician Series at the GS-07:

You must possess one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity that included performing the following duties: (1) Researching reference materials such as site maps, existing archeological inventory information, books and other written data for possible cultural sites within an area slated for development; (2) Preparing or assisting with preparation of forms for determination of eligibility and/or nomination of sites to the National Register of Historic Places.

OR

You must have completed one full year of graduate level education (18 semester hours) that is directly related to the position. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. The education must be obtained in an accredited college or university. Official transcripts must be provided to support this.

OR

You must possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must be directly related to the work of the position. Official transcripts must be provided to support this.

Experience
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

.Physical Demands: Work requires some physical exertion such as bending and walking in terrain that is rough, rocky, mountainous and densely vegetated. Required to lift and carry equipment necessary to efficiently perform the work of the position, and to provide for personal comfort and safety. This can include tools, personal protective equipment, food and water for extended periods of work away from vehicles.

Work Environment: Office work is performed in an adequately lighted, ventilated, cooled and heated area. During fieldwork is subject to cuts and bruises, extreme and adverse weather conditions, and injuries and discomforts from pests and animals. Employee will adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
