Summary/Objective:

Bliss Products is seeking a Superintendent with exceptional organization, problem-solving skills, and a strong focus on job safety and compliance. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of various playground, shade structure, and recreational construction projects. The superintendent will be on-site five days a week to ensure that projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with plans and specifications.

This position requires extensive travel to job sites across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware & North Carolina. There may be some travel to other states via plane to cover Government sites. Bliss Products will cover all travel expenses, including per diem, hotel accommodations, and flights.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of job site safety, compliance requirements, subcontractor management, and quality control. The Travel Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring projects remain on schedule, within budget, and adhere to federal, state, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-Site Management: Be present on-site four days per week to oversee construction activities, safety protocols, and subcontractor performance.
  • Job Safety & Compliance: Ensure all OSHA and EM-385 safety regulations are followed. Conduct daily safety inspections and enforce compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers, general contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution of projects.
  • Scheduling & Logistics: Maintain a three-week lookahead schedule and update project status daily.
  • Quality Control: Monitor construction progress to ensure work meets contract specifications and quality standards.
  • Subcontractor Oversight: Ensure all subcontractors adhere to schedules, safety guidelines, and project requirements.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address issues promptly to prevent project delays or budget overruns.
  • Project Closeout: Oversee the completion of punch lists and ensure all required documentation is submitted.
  • Client Interaction: Serve as the on-site liaison for customers and inspectors, providing regular project updates.
  • Site Security & Badging: Ensure all personnel have the required site badges and background checks completed in advance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Managed construction projects, and has experience being on field.
  • 5 years of experience in site supervision, construction management, or a related field.
  • Communicated at all levels to run jobs from the field to upper management.
  • Managed certified payroll.
  • Experience overseeing multiple construction projects at once.
  • Strong knowledge of job site safety, compliance, and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check for site access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in playground, shade structure, or recreational construction.

Travel & Compensation:

  • Travel: Required to travel during the week and return home by weekend. Must have your own car. May be required to travel to other states for a few weeks at a time on occasion.
  • Expenses Covered: Per diem, hotel, flights, and rental car (if applicable).
