Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting any concerns promptly to healthcare teams
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences while maintaining cleanliness in kitchen areas
- Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
- Maintain a clean, safe living environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols
- Document care activities accurately in resident records and update care plans regularly to reflect changing needs
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or in assisted living or nursing home settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of first aid, CPR certification, and basic patient monitoring techniques is required
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and HIPAA privacy standards is essential
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist residents with mobility using proper techniques such as Hoyer lifts or resident transfers
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, residents, and families
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support others’ well-being are crucial qualities for success in this role
- Experience in home health or hospice care is a plus but not mandatory
