Duties
- Prepare a variety of Mediterranean dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and sides, following established recipes and presentation standards
- Execute food preparation tasks such as poaching, braising, grilling, and food production to ensure consistent quality and taste
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, grills, ovens, and food processing tools
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety sanitizing procedures and food handling regulations to ensure a hygienic environment
- Assist with menu planning by suggesting new recipes and seasonal specials that highlight Mediterranean flavors
- Support high-volume food production during peak hours while maintaining attention to detail and quality control
- Collaborate with dietary department staff to accommodate special dietary needs and ensure proper meal preparation
- Participate in food safety management practices and uphold cleanliness standards across all kitchen areas
- Contribute to a positive team environment by serving colleagues with professionalism and enthusiasm
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant or catering setting, preferably with fine dining or high-volume production experience
- Strong knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine techniques such as poaching, braising, grilling, and knife skills
- Familiarity with food safety management systems and sanitizing procedures in commercial kitchens
- Demonstrated ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining flexibility for menu adjustments
- Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of dietary aide practices and menu planning for diverse dietary needs is a plus
- Excellent food handling skills combined with a passion for culinary excellence
