Turbomachinery Engineer

About The Role

We're looking for a Turbomachinery Engineer ready to own real hardware from day one. You'll work alongside senior engineers and founders on compressor and turbine design, analysis, and test. This role is for engineers who want to grow fast by doing the work, not watching it.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze turbomachinery components (compressors, turbines, rotating structures) with guidance from senior engineers.
• Build analytical models including hand calcs, 1D cycle, FEA, and CFD; present results clearly.
• Turn design intent into production-ready drawings; coordinate with manufacturing to confirm parts are buildable.
• Support component and rig test campaigns including instrumentation, data collection, and post-test writeups.
• Spend time on the shop floor and in the test cell; understand how your designs behave as hardware.
• Document work rigorously: models, drawings, test reports, and lessons learned.
• Take increasing ownership of discrete components over time.
  
  

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2 years of relevant industry experience, or M.S. in a related field.
• Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structures, and heat transfer.
• Some hands-on hardware experience through internship, research, or personal projects.
• Comfortable in a shop or lab environment.
• Clear written and verbal communicator.
• High ownership mindset.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in propulsion, turbomachinery, or high-performance rotating machinery.
• CAD proficiency; bonus if you have had a design manufactured.
• Programming experience (Python, MATLAB, or similar) for analysis or data reduction.
• Hands-on machining, fabrication, or assembly experience.

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offers may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and training, critical skills, and business considerations. Compensation Range: $100K - $140K
