Part Time Animal Care Team Member (Weekend Availability Required)
Starting at $13.50 per hour
Location: St. Pauls, NC
Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary is a lifetime care, no kill shelter for blind cats and cats with FIV or FeLV. We provide a safe and loving home for special needs cats who depend on us every day. We are located 25 miles south of Fayetteville, 15 miles south of Hope Mills, and 10 miles north of Lumberton.
Schedule:
Five days per week, 7:15 AM to 12:30 PM
Most schedules include weekends
Job Summary
This role is physically demanding, repetitive, and sometimes messy. We are cleaning and preparing the shelter for the entire morning. It is not for everyone, but it is very meaningful work. If you are dependable, caring, and want to make a real difference in the lives of special needs cats, this may be the perfect role for you.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care and feeding for sanctuary cats
- Clean and maintain cat rooms and common areas
- Wash dishes, handle laundry, mop floors
- Scoop and refresh litter boxes
- Assist with basic grooming including bathing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning
- Monitor cat behavior and well-being
- Communicate clearly with staff, volunteers, and visitors
- Conduct live social media tours of the sanctuary
- Perform additional tasks needed to maintain a clean and sanitary environment
Requirements
- Extremely reliable and punctual. Our cats depend on you every day
- Able to follow instructions consistently
- Positive attitude during busy, dirty, or stressful tasks
- Physically able to stand, lift, bend, and move for long periods
- Reliable transportation
- Comfortable working with cats of all temperaments, including shy or reactive cats
- Strong communication skills in person and on camera
- Previous animal care experience is a plus, but not required
- Must complete Fear Free Certification within 6 months. We will help you with this
