What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prep Department Supervisor position at BLHI?
Essential Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the Prep Department.
Lead, train, and support department employees while promoting a safe, productive, and team-oriented work environment.
Oversee the operation of shop equipment, including saws, plasma tables, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions to ensure materials are prepared accurately and efficiently.
Coordinate workflow and prioritize tasks to meet production schedules and deadlines.
Monitor quality, productivity, and organization throughout the department.
Ensure materials are properly staged, organized, and prepared for the next phase of fabrication.
Troubleshoot production issues and communicate effectively with management and other departments.
Perform basic computer operations related to daily workflow, production, and shop activities.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive attitude among department employees.
Be willing to work up to 60 hours per week, as needed, to meet production demands.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a fabrication shop.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Experience operating saws, plasma tables, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
Proficient in reading a tape measure and performing basic math calculations.
Basic computer skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding, and hot shop environment.
Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Positive attitude and a commitment to maintaining a productive work environment.
