Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate roller to achieve compaction and smoothness
- Maintain daily equipment maintenance including, fueling, watering, checking oil, and greasing equipment
- Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality
- Perform minor repairs on equipment issues. Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties
- Must be able to follow traffic control instructions and maintain common work zone safety habits.
- Commit to the overall safety of the work environment by always taking extra precautions to work with care and consideration
- Able to follow verbal instruction from the crew foreman and/or superintendents to perform job duties and assist in other positions as needed
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
Experience and Requirements
- 2 years or more of industry related experience is required, with an emphasis on roads, highways, bridges, and parking lots
- Candidate must be able to work safely and follow all company policies, as well as wear and maintain all PPE.
- Operator will also be expected to show initiative in assisting with the completion of asphalt operations by helping with labor and other machine operation including but not limited to shoveling, raking, brooming, and operating equipment on parking lots, streets, and highways.
- Operator should be able to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with all personnel, and perform all duties safely and productively to ensure high quality work.
- Candidate must be willing to work extended hours, for overtime work will happen and is required
- A successful candidate shall become a team player with timely and consistent attendance.
- Prompt attendance is always required unless permission for missing work has been granted, or an emergency has occurred.
- Must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with coworkers, customers, and the public.
- Must be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, and date changes.
Qualifications
- A valid driver’s license (required)
- Must pass a preemployment drug screen and background check (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
