Sheet Metal Foreman

Position Summary

The Sheet Metal Foreman is responsible for leading and overseeing sheet metal crews in the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of ductwork and related HVAC systems on commercial and industrial projects. This role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate sheet metal crews, delegating daily tasks and monitoring progress.
  
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings to plan and execute ductwork layout and installation.
  
• Ensure proper fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal components, including ductwork, hangers, and fittings.
  
• Maintain strict adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety procedures.
  
• Provide hands-on training and mentorship to apprentices and journeymen.
  
• Inspect completed work for accuracy and compliance with design and code requirements.
  
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and other trades to resolve conflicts and ensure workflow efficiency.
  
• Track material usage, order supplies as needed, and minimize waste.
  
• Document daily activities, crew hours, and project updates.
  

Qualifications

• 5 years of sheet metal/HVAC duct installation experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or foreman role.
  
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, sheet metal fabrication, and installation practices.
  
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage crews effectively.
  
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
  
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
  
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs., work at heights, and perform physical labor in various conditions.
  
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
