Position Summary
The Donation Attendant / Donation Processor is responsible for greeting donors, unloading donations safely and courteously, screening items for quality, and processing donations according to Blessingdales’ production standards. This role ensures that all incoming donations are handled with care, documented properly, and efficiently moved into the sorting and processing workflow to support our mission of serving The Living Vine and the Savannah community.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. Donor Relations & Customer Service
- Greet donors promptly and professionally with a friendly, mission-focused attitude.
- Assist donors with unloading items safely and offer donation receipts.
- Represent Blessingdales’ mission and values at all times in appearance, speech, and behavior.
- 2. Donation Screening & Intake
- Visually inspect donations for quality, cleanliness, and salability.
- Politely decline unsellable items in accordance with the “Acceptable Donations” guide.
- Separate items into appropriate categories (clothing, housewares, furniture, electronics, etc.).
- 3. Processing & Workflow
- Sort donations into designated bins or carts for processing.
- Tag, price, or prep items as assigned by the Assistant Manager or Sorter/Tagger team.
- Maintain accurate counts of donations (bags, boxes, furniture items) for reporting purposes.
- 4. Safety, Cleanliness & Organization
- Keep the donation receiving area clean, safe, and free of hazards.
- Follow proper lifting techniques and use equipment safely (carts, dollies, pallet jacks).
- Report any safety hazards, damaged donations, or suspicious activity immediately to management.
- 5. Team Support
- Communicate with Sorters, Taggers, and Production team to ensure smooth flow of goods.
- Support production goals (e.g., daily item counts, rack fills) by prioritizing high-demand categories.
- Assist with backroom clean-up, trash removal, and recycling as needed.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to lift 50-70 lbs. repeatedly and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Good communication skills and customer service mindset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain organization under pressure.
- Prior warehouse, donation center, or retail experience preferred but not required.
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in the donation receiving area, backroom, and outdoors. Exposure to weather conditions, dust, and donated materials is common. Requires frequent lifting, bending, and moving of items.
