Blessed Sacrament School (BSS) https://bss-savannah.org/discover-bss/, a Catholic coeducational institution in Savannah, GA, with approximately 460 students, seeks an innovative and compassionate teacher. The Middle School is structured around eight intimate home classrooms, each led by a teacher. These teachers are tasked with the preparation and teaching of effective and inspiring curricula to support both academic (reading, writing, math) and social and emotional learning. Learning support is available to all grades through ‘push-ins’.

(part-time could be considered)
About the Role
The Middle School program engages students in Grades 6–8 through interdisciplinary and collaborative English. The program is designed to inspire curiosity and critical thinking. The English teacher works closely with other teachers at each grade level to create meaningful, connected learning experiences that invite students to see themselves as agents of change. A successful candidate will bring enthusiasm, flexibility, and a passion for working with middle school students in a student-centered classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach engaging English classes that hone students’ reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Collaborate closely with humanities colleagues and the broader middle school faculty to design and implement curriculum.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and student voice.
- Serve as a middle school advisor and contribute to the life of the school.
Qualifications & Experience
- Personal philosophy, value, and lifestyle, which are consistent with a position in a Catholic school

- Model a spirit of innovation, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
- Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to communicate that to middle school students.
- Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience with middle school-aged students and a standards-based learning environment.
- Strong organizational skills, classroom management, and the ability to create a joyful learning environment.
- Exercise professionalism at all times with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in professional development activities of the subject area, pedagogy, and technology.

Pay: $37,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
