Job Summary
Performs financial administrative duties to facilitate the efficient operation of the Parish office. Also supports the Pastoral Staff with any tasks that might be done to free them as much as possible so that they remain dedicated to their clerical and pastoral duties.
Duties
- Maintain financial records in an accurate and timely manner.
- Responsible for all bookkeeping/accounting activities including compilation of financial files and records, reconcilement of monthly bank and credit card statements, payment of expense reports, etc.
- Ensure Parish remains in full compliance regarding federal, state and Diocese financial requirements and reporting.
- Maintain all financial procedures, processes, reports, records, etc. in compliance with the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee Financial Policies and Procedures.
- Assist Pastor, Parish Administrator and Finance Council in preparation of annual Parish budget
- Produce financial statements and information for Parish Finance Council meetings
- Completion of payroll activities including extra clergy expense reporting, Mass stipend payments, and monitoring of timesheets, vacation, sick days, etc.
- Employee and Volunteer file management, including ensuring all records are in accordance with Diocese procedures
- Monitoring and reporting all employee and volunteer compliance requirements
- Insurance Certificate tracking for all vendors and subcontractors, collection of W9
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum post high school vocational/specialized training or an associate’s degree
- Minimum of five years’ bookkeeping experience
- Knowledge and use of Sage software
- Strong computer skills are imperative (MS Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Gmail, etc.)
- Proficiency in the use of standard office tools (copy machine, etc.)
- Team player
- Must be personable and engaging
- Ability to work cooperatively, yet independently
- Be a self-starter and good at multi-tasking and prioritizing projects
- Possess strong administrative skills and the ability to work independently without supervision
- Able to create an environment that is inviting to people passing through on a daily basis
- When urgent situations arise, give first priority to the person involved. Identify the need and its degree of urgency
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from all socioeconomic backgrounds
- Have excellent command of English language, composition and punctuation.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
Work Location: In person
