Overview
The Residential Aide plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to residents in assisted living, retirement homes, or group homes. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide personal care and support tailored to individual resident needs.
- Administer medications as prescribed and monitor vital signs when necessary.
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Prepare meals according to dietary requirements and preferences of residents.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of resident living areas and common spaces.
- Utilize EMR systems for documentation of care provided and resident progress.
- Support residents with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when required.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement behavior management strategies and care plans.
Skills
- Experience in assisted living or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of caregiving techniques for individuals with disabilities, including dementia and Alzheimer's care.
- Familiarity with vital sign monitoring and medication administration protocols.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to perform cleaning tasks to maintain a hygienic environment for residents.
- Experience working in home & community care or personal care homes is advantageous.
- Driving skills may be required for transporting residents as needed.
