Job Summary
Join our dynamic emergency medical transporting service as an EMT Basic, where your vital role is to provide immediate, high-quality assistance to clients. As an EMT with Bless-A-Rider LLC/BARTS LLC you will be responsible for driving/utilizing a convalescent ambulance. This type of ambulance is specialized for, but not limited to, non-emergency medical transport. Clients will be transported to and from medical appointments, dialysis treatments, and etc.
Duties
- Respond promptly to emergency/non-emergency calls, providing essential pre-hospital medical transport in diverse environments.
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history collection when necessary.
- Manage airways effectively through airway management techniques and assist with oxygen therapy when necessary.
- Administer medications and injections as authorized and within scope of practice, following aseptic techniques when necessary.
- Operate emergency medical equipment (DME) such as ventilators, monitors, and IV supplies with precision.
- Conduct critical care transport for patients requiring specialized medical attention in route to hospitals or trauma centers in emergency situations.
- Maintain clear documentation of patient care reports, vital signs, and treatment procedures adhering to protocols and regulations.
- Drive emergency vehicles safely while adhering to traffic laws and safety standards; perform heavy lifting when necessary during patient extrication or equipment handling.
- Collaborate closely with hospital staff during handoffs, providing detailed patient information including physiology data and triage status.
- Uphold high standards of infection control using proper aseptic techniques during all patient interactions.
Qualifications
- Valid EMT Basic certification with current state licensure or registration.
- Certified to drive an ambulance.
- Prior experience in emergency medicine or urgent care settings is highly desirable; hospital experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency in airway management, vital signs monitoring, and patient assessment techniques.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medication administration protocols.
- Experience administering injections, venipuncture, and performing physical examinations required for comprehensive patient evaluation.
- Strong understanding of trauma protocols including Level I Trauma Center procedures and Level II trauma center experience preferred.
- Critical care experience involving ventilators or advanced airway devices is advantageous; familiarity with critical care transport is a plus.
- Ability to operate DME safely under pressure while maintaining aseptic technique standards.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; ability to perform heavy lifting safely in emergency situations.
