Job/Position Summary
The Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing the company's procurement strategy to ensure a reliable, cost-effective, and uninterrupted supply of raw materials, packaging, maintenance supplies, and operational materials. This position leads strategic sourcing initiatives, annual contract negotiations, supplier performance management, inventory optimization, and purchasing activities while partnering with Operations, Scheduling, QA, Warehouse, R&D, Customer Service, and Finance.
Education and Experience
Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Logistics, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
· Minimum five years of procurement or purchasing experience in manufacturing.
· Experience negotiating supplier contracts and managing inventory.
· ERP/MRP experience required.
· Food manufacturing experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for raw materials, packaging, maintenance supplies, and indirect materials.
· Lead annual contract negotiations including pricing, payment terms, freight, rebates, and supply agreements.
· Monitor commodity markets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
· Purchase materials required to support production schedules and manage purchase orders.
· Develop and maintain supplier relationships and an Approved Supplier List.
· Qualify secondary suppliers to reduce supply chain risk.
· Monitor inventory levels and establish minimum, maximum, and safety stock levels.
· Prevent stockouts while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
· Partner with Scheduling to ensure material availability for production.
· Prepare purchasing budgets, monitor purchase price variance, and identify annual cost savings.
· Coordinate supplier corrective actions with Quality Assurance.
· Prepare supplier scorecards and procurement reports for executive leadership.
Leadership Responsibilities
· Lead supplier negotiations and strategic sourcing initiatives.
· Recommend sourcing strategies to executive leadership.
· Resolve supplier performance issues and drive continuous improvement.
Skills and Competencies
· Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
· Strong financial and business acumen.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
Pay: $78,133.84 - $94,096.66 per year
