Position Summary
Winemakers report to the ownership team and are involved in all aspects of production and operations including product manufacturing, production, warehouse and equipment maintenance and compliance and TTB reporting. Winemakers will be involved in regular tasting room operations and education. Strong candidates will be able to operate with limited supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for winemaking operations including all production processes.
- Manage inventory and inventory reporting in inventory management system InnoVint
- Perform racking, bottling, filling tanks, product transfer operations
- Maintain all production, lab, and warehouse equipment in clean, working order
- Manage vineyard quality evaluations, grape and juice sourcing and grape picking decisions
- Coordinate deliveries and grape crushing/pressing activities
- Organize and direct all cellar work as needed
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the winery’s policies
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all required internal and eternal (e.g. government) reporting and documentation
- Works as a team with all personnel in order to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelors degree in Enology, Fermentation Science, or Viticulture
- Minimum of 1 or more years of direct winemaking experience
- Must possess exemplary wine tasting skills with the ability to perceive subtle differences in wine (acidity, flavors, flaws, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Multi-task oriented
- Required to be 21 Years of Age
