Job Summary
Bleecker and Greer of Rockport is a great place to work for cooks who are passionate about working with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. We are foremost a nose to tail whole animal butcher shop and our commitment to the use of those ingredients informs all the decisions we make. We are equally passionate about practicing environmental sustainability and purchase our raw materials from as many local suppliers as possible. We are looking for someone who shares in that vision to help grow our team.
Our kitchen produces daily sandwiches, salads, soups, and prepared entrees for customers to take home and re-heat. Our Cafe serves an all day breakfast and lunch menu. The business is open 7 days per week so working one weekend day is a must. We are open daily from 10am - 4pm so there are no late nights!
Responsibilities include:
- Daily production of our seasonal menu items that utilize proteins and fresh produce from local farms while minimizing food waste.
- Regular shifts on the cafe line for made to order items
- Packaging and labeling of products for retail.
- Dish washing shifts as needed
- Using a commercial slicer for meat and cheese sandwich prep
QUALIFICATIONS
- Culinary experience, knowledge and skills: 2 years
- Basic knowledge of whole animal butchery
- Desire and ability to work harmoniously with the entire B&G team
- Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully
- Computer skills and understanding of labeling software
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform standing tasks for 35 hours/week
- Ability to perform kitchen tasks that require climbing stairs, bending, reaching, and regularly lifting up to 40 pounds
- Weekend availability
