About the Role
BLD Pharmatech Co., Limited is seeking a Synthetic Chemistry Development Scientist to support its research and process development activities in Newington, Connecticut.
This position is suited for a PhD-level chemist with strong expertise in organic synthesis who enjoys working on practical route development and scale-up challenges. The role focuses on transforming synthetic concepts into reliable, scalable laboratory processes while working closely with a multidisciplinary R&D team.
You will contribute to experimental design, improve synthetic efficiency, and help advance molecules from small-scale research toward more robust and reproducible preparation methods.
What You Will Do
- Investigate published literature and patent data to support selection of synthetic approaches and experimental strategies
- Plan and execute multi-step organic synthesis work, ranging from small-scale experiments to larger preparative batches
- Adjust and refine reaction conditions to improve conversion, selectivity, and overall process performance
- Explore alternative synthetic pathways with a focus on practicality, scalability, and safety
- Carry out purification of compounds using standard laboratory methods such as crystallization, extraction, and chromatographic techniques
- Analyze compounds using modern instrumentation (e.g., NMR, MS, HPLC, GC) to confirm identity and purity
- Record experimental details carefully to ensure accuracy, reproducibility, and proper documentation standards
- Work with senior researchers to support ongoing project goals and experimental timelines
- Assist in troubleshooting synthetic challenges and improving experimental outcomes
- Contribute to discussions on process design and optimization strategies
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety procedures and operational guidelines
- Stay informed on advancements in synthetic methodologies and process chemistry approaches
What We Are Looking For
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Synthesis, Process Chemistry, or a related field
- Strong hands-on background in organic synthesis and laboratory research
- Experience working with multi-step reaction sequences and small-scale process development
- Familiarity with purification and separation techniques used in research or process settings
- Ability to interpret analytical data from instruments such as NMR, MS, HPLC, and GC
- Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to experimental detail
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment
- Good communication skills for documenting and discussing scientific work

Pay: $68,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
