BLC Construction, LLC is an established and growing commercial general contractor specializing in commercial, industrial, office, and interior construction projects throughout the Chicagoland area.

We are seeking an outgoing, ambitious, and analytically minded college graduate who wants to build a long-term career in commercial construction.

No prior construction experience is required. We value personality, strong numerical skills, communication, sales potential, initiative, and a genuine desire to learn. We are prepared to train and develop the right person.

You will work alongside experienced professionals, interact with clients, visit active construction projects, and gain exposure to multiple aspects of our business.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow with us.

The Opportunity

Initially, you will support estimating and preconstruction by preparing budgets, analyzing subcontractor pricing, reviewing project documents, and developing proposals. As you grow, responsibilities may expand into business development, client relationships, and project operations.

This is an opportunity to learn how a commercial construction business operates directly from company leadership—both the financial and relationship-building sides.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Preconstruction

·         Assist with construction estimates, budgets, and proposals.

·         Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements.

·         Solicit, organize, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing.

·         Develop scopes of work and bid packages.

·         Support project planning and maintain organized estimating records.

Business Development & Client Relations

·         Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project walkthroughs.

·         Prepare proposals and professional client communications.

·         Research prospective clients, projects, and new business opportunities.

·         Support marketing initiatives and build industry relationships.

·         Represent BLC professionally in office, client, and field environments.

Professional Development

·         Learn directly from experienced team members and company leadership.

·         Gain exposure to projects from initial concept through completion.

·         Learn estimating, project management, operations, and business development.

·         Take on increasing responsibility as your capabilities develop.

Qualifications

Required

·         Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·         Excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.

·         Strong numerical ability, comfort with Microsoft Excel, and interest in estimating, pricing, and project financials.

·         Analytical thinking, commercial judgment, problem-solving, and initiative.

·         Outgoing, personable, and confident communicating with clients and building relationships.

·         Personal accountability, coachability, a strong work ethic, and interest in learning construction.

Preferred but Not Required

·         Degree in finance, business administration, accounting, marketing, construction management, economics, engineering, or a related field.

·         Internship, part-time employment, or relevant professional experience.

·         Familiarity with construction drawings, estimating, or project management.
